Lake District hotels can cost less when the weather is good

The Lake District National Park in Cumbria is one of the most stunning places on earth to visit. Your time in the Lake District will differ though depending on the month of your visit. The Lake District is beautiful in any month but I recommend that you visit in either April or September. The reasons for this are the better weather and less crowding.

The Lake District is a mountainous region that’s close to the sea, the question isn’t if it will rain today, but when and how much? Lake District weather is often a conversation topic all year round. October to March tend to be rainy months as, surprisingly, so do July and August. Bear in mind though that it can rain heavily at any time. It’s also not unusual for it to be wet in one town and dry in another place just a few miles away.

Peak visitor time tends to focus around the summer months and UK bank holidays such as Easter. As the Lake District is just a small rural area and that roads are often narrow, driving
at peak time can be stressful. You may also find that costs of Lake District hotels and Lake District cottages rise significantly as demand soars. So try April or September to visit. You’ll generally be reasonably warm and dry and you will not have to fight your way through traffic jams and masses of people.
