Start out with the simple things, for example how to get around and find the various tools and what the tools and buttons do. Try not to get into advanced topics too soon. It is hard enough to learn Photoshop as it is - keep things basic and uncomplicated initially. Photoshop is easily the best program available for editing images you can use.
